Increased Houthi Attacks on Maritime Routes in the Red Sea

It is well-known that Houthi attacks are increasing on maritime routes in the Red Sea and in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The terrorist organization attacks any ship connected, or with even the smallest link to Israel.

As a result, shipping companies are changing the routes of their ships traveling from the Far East to Israel. In routine times the maritime route passes through the Suez Canal, however in light of the current situation shipping companies must reroute through the Cape of Good Hope.

This route change directly impacts the number of travel days and the cost of sea transport. Moreover, this significantly reduces the number of free days available to the importer (the time the importer has to return the container to the shipping company) while lengthening arrival times from the east to more than 50 days.

At Fridenson Group, we are continuously working to find effective solutions in light of the current situation, such as shifting some shipments to our air freight division. We understand your concerns regarding the situation, which directly affects shipping costs and delivery times, and, of course, your need for a fast and reliable solution that can provide you with peace of mind.

We will continue to be at your service to maintain the continuity of your company’s orders and logistics operations, and we will keep you updated on any important developments resulting from the situation.
